From a very young age I've been interested in playing guitar, just listening to the greats such as Brian May, Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, I wondered if I could ever be able to play like them. I taught myself from scratch and became quite adept. However getting older and getting progressively busier with college, then university and work, I lost touch with guitar and my skill level dropped.
This is where "Jamorama" comes in. I always hated paying so much a week for a tutor, where I had to book an appointment for only an hour of time and it still cost me each week. A friend from university recommended the Jamorama programme and, having the spare cash, decided to buy the programme. You learn at your own pace, when you want (or when you can) so for me this was usually late night early morning when I actually had some free time. The format is like an eBook, able to download at your leisure, which, you can take with you if you have a laptop or print it out. Every Jamorama lesson comes with a video lesson and a "professionally recorded jam track" which means you can actually play along with music and real musicians. Playing along with music really helps and I found is a much quicker way of learning, able to get a feel of the music as you play.
One of the best things about Jamorama is that with it, I knew exactly where I was headed when it came to learning how to play guitar. Teaching myself by using other information online is that there's so much out there, its usually really difficult to find a starting point and a path where I wanted to end up; a learning plan is needed to effectively use the time and energy you have. As each lesson is planned ahead of time and scheduled, I was able to pick lessons, leave them and come back at my leisure.
You will learn many guitar-playing techniques such as alternate picking, tremelo, tapping and legato (personal favourite of mine). I think the best thing that I got out of Jamorama is the ear training that it teaches you. You can learn songs just by listening to them; you teach yourself to recognise chords, notes, arpeggios and all the other important parts that make up music; once you know these, you can replicate them just by listening.
From learning these techniques, I formed a band were we wrote our own songs and all these techniques were easily transferable and really helped in my experience.
At the end of the day, I think this is a brilliant product and I definitely recommend having a look, I cant see much else better on the market.
